Evidence and decision-making Dr. Gopinathan explains that some global health problems—like antimicrobial resistance—are serious but slow to develop, which makes them harder for policymakers to prioritize. Why does this happen, and what does his explanation suggest about the limits of evidence alone in shaping health policy? Use at least one example from the interview. 2. Equity and real-world trade-offs Throughout the interview, Dr. Gopinathan stresses that health policies often involve difficult trade-offs and must be adapted to local contexts. What examples does he give to show that “good” policies in one country may not work the same way in another? How do these examples change how you think about equity in global health? 3. Your own path in public health Rather than following a single, linear career path, Dr. Gopinathan describes building skills across different topics, countries, and sectors. What parts of his career or advice stood out to you, and how might they influence how you think about your own future in public health or global health?
