Rare Afrikaans rework of the track "Goodbye", penned by Paul McCartney (but credited to Lennon–McCartney) and recorded by Mary Hopkin. The original released on 28 March 1969, reached No. 2 in the UK singles chart, prevented from reaching the top position by the Beatles' single "Get Back". In the US, released 7 April 1969, the song reached No. 13 on the singles chart. In the Netherlands and Ireland, the single peaked at No. 1. Lynette Theunissen was a South African singer active in the late 1960s. She is best known for her Afrikaans-language music, particularly the album Lewensliedere (meaning “Life Songs”) released in 1969. While detailed biographical information on Theunissen is scarce in online archives, she was part of the Afrikaans pop/traditional music scene of the era. Her musical style likely included sentimental ballads and “lewensliedere” – heartfelt “songs of life” that were popular among Afrikaans audiences in the 1960s. The Lewensliedere album appears to have been her most prominent recording; there is little evidence of a large discography beyond this release, suggesting that Lynette Theunissen’s recording career was relatively limited. Aside from Lewensliedere, she may have issued a few singles or made live appearances, but no other major albums by her are widely documented in public sources.
