China’s Proposal for a Bohai Strait Tunnel

China is considering constructing a $45 billion tunnel across the Bohai strait, connecting the cities of Dalian and Yantai in northeast China. The mega-project would be the longest undersea connection ever, drastically transforming the regional economies and nationwide transportation routes. It comes with many benefits but also has many issues including cost, feasibility and environmental effects. The Chinese government started the project in 2014, but has faced many delays.
