With widespread proliferation of genome sequencing projects and genomics data, a systematic computational infrastructure is required to coordinate efforts within and between research communities engaged with invertebrate genome sequencing. At last count, the Earth Biogenome Project (EBP) has no less than 50 affiliated networks representing diverse taxonomic groups listed on its website. For comparative and functional genomics research, metadata, sequencing, and annotation data can be found in numerous databases, with efforts underway to organize and standardize datasets. Various levels of genome completion are common, and taxonomic representation of sequenced genomes are biased toward specific higher taxa such as disease-vector insects, nematodes, and genetics model organisms. To overcome these issues and provide access for the community-at-large, a standardized and universal computational infrastructure is underway for organization of the genome metadata and taxonomy. Such a system is reflected by the efforts of the Earth BioGenome Project (EBP), Sanger Tree of Life program, and the GenomeHubs/Genomes on a Tree (GoaT) project. (Sotero-Caio et al. 2021, https://goat.genomehubs.org/, Challis et al. 2017). In biological terms, GoaT allows genomics metadata to be embedded within a tree-based representation of the complete tree of life, and show levels of genome completion within a hierarchical Linnean taxonomy. As collaborators with the GoaT, EBP and Moore/Sanger’s Aquatic Symbiosis Genomes (ASG) projects, GIGA is compiling a complete set of genome metadata from sequencing projects of non-model aquatic invertebrates the GenomeHubs/GoaT data format. This format allows automatic updates and interactive dashboards. We present graphical results with brief analysis from our first-pass, we compiled from a list of representative, reference-level genomes. (https://goat.genomehubs.org/projects/.... We are continuing building out the lists, and look forward to generating a comprehensive, Family-level coverage of genome sequencing efforts encompassed within GIGA’s scope
