Light normalisation only. No noise reduction or dynamic processing applied. Source: Personal vinyl collection. This recording forms part of the ORYX Exploring the World of Music series, conceived as a documentary survey of historic instruments rather than a recital programme in the conventional sense. The selection traces the development of organ building and repertory across Europe from the seventeenth to the eighteenth centuries, presenting each instrument within its architectural, tonal, and stylistic context. The organs represented on this side include Spanish, Danish, French, and English traditions, ranging from early Iberian instruments with divided keyboards to English and Continental Baroque organs of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Emphasis is placed on characteristic tone, articulation, and registration rather than virtuosity, allowing the individual voices and acoustics of each instrument to speak clearly. Side A includes, in the fifth band/track, the rare claviorganum of 1745, a combined organ–harpsichord instrument, illustrating an unusual but historically significant attempt to merge sustaining and plucked sound worlds within a single keyboard instrument.
