PAINTING VIDEO DESCRIPTION – Looking for an easy Halloween painting idea? Let me be your acrylic art instructor as I teach you easy step-by-step instructions throughout this fun beginner art video as you learn how to paint a cute puppy in a clown costume—a comical whimsical painting “PUPPY CLOWNING AROUND” with acrylic paint. I never had an opportunity to see the circus as a kid. Growing up in the mountains in a small town with no streetlight, gas station, or diner, the big family event was driving 40 minutes to go to the grocery store every other week and driving 60-minutes to go to the cinema a few times a year. The closest thing to a circus for me was watching Wizard of Oz with my family once a year. I say that because the Wizard of Oz has a circus feel to it with the lion, scarecrow and tinman representing the clowns, Oz himself representing the ringmaster, the flying monkeys representing the trapezes, and the wicked witch of the west representing the caged animals (in my mind). It wasn’t until my son was 8 (he's now 30) when he, and myself, saw a real circus for the first time at the Colosseum during the Big E. I loved everything about it, the fresh buttery popcorn, the toe-tapping music, the incredible acrobatics, beautiful animals, and the hilarious clowns, made for what Barnum and Bailey coined “The greatest show on earth” and for good reason. Looking back, I realize that all the circuses I saw, were missing an act that could have been a total show-stopper--a puppy in a clown outfit just walking around the ring. Cuteness overload! So, for the love of the circus and all those puppies who never had an opportunity to saunter around the ring in a clown costume, join me and paint the adorable and funny image of a puppy clowning around. The painting process for this beginner art lesson is so simple. The first step is to paint the background with light colors, which will allow your colorful pup to shine bright. Then after learning how to draw a puppy and his costume, by using a simple dot to dot method, you’ll apply a base coat to work off of. Then you’ll learn how to paint clothing, boots, a clown nose and a hat, by layering colors and using a wet-on-wet technique to create richness, form and texture to your objects. Then you’ll learn how to paint flowers, rainbow hair and ruffles using a one brushstroke technique. You’ll also learn to paint sweet puppy eyes and fur with realistic detail, giving your best friend expression. The art lesson is so easy to follow, you’ll feel like it’s a paint by numbers. A Halloween DIY project idea makes for a canvas wall art to decorate your home for Halloween. Using only 3 brushes and 8 colors, you’ll paint like a professional and create the best canvas painting in the world! Have a date night, paint party, paint and sip, or virtual paint night. Paint with gouache, oil paint, or watercolor, any medium will work! Paint just for fun or for art therapy.
