Trains Passing In Opposite Directions While Pounding The Railroad Diamonds Of CSX & Norfolk Southern Railroads. Trains Passing Right Under Me. 8 Railroad Diamonds In One Location. Marion, Ohio Trains Where 3 Routes Converge At Marion Union Station. Filming From AC Tower. Look Inside The Train Station And Close Look At Abandoned Railroad Track. This time we have different filming angles and we see inside Marion Union Station. A birthday party was going on at the time. We see the telegraph office and we see the historic signals that are displayed inside the station museum. The first train was filmed from the platform at AC Tower. Check out the view as the CSX auto racks slam the diamonds. The 8 railroad diamonds here require almost constant maintenance. Listen to how hard these trains hit them. After a Norfolk Southern Train crosses the diamonds we take a look inside the station. But first, notice the Norfolk Southern Train passing another train that was going in the opposite direction. At about 7:55 in the video you can see the locomotives of both trains passing each other and crossing over the diamonds. After that a Norfolk Southern local passes. The conductor was riding the other side of the leading gondola car to be on the same side of the train as the engineer in the SD40-2. The locomotive was in the middle of the train and crossing over the CSX diamonds. Then a Norfolk Southern intermodal train passes and the train was so long that it required two DPU locomotives in the middle. We take a close look at an abandoned industrial railroad spur and we see the main line rail up close. Notice that the rail is 141 pounds per yard! That is very heavy rail. How often do you see that?
