LED GU10 lamps are popular amongst homeowners and electricians alike. Their popularity comes from having the aesthetics of a traditional halogen lamp but the energy savings achieved with LED technology. When installing or specifying these types of lamps, the lumens are an important consideration and you should be aware of what you need to look out for. Recently there are some regulations that have come into effect. Lumens Values & Regulations ERP regulations state that manufacturers of directional lamps such as GU10s are required to state the useful luminous flux of a lamp - or Useful Lumens. Historically manufacturers may have only stated the total lumen value. So, more recently you may have come across packaging with a reduced lumen value than you are used to seeing. This is probably because it is displaying the ‘Useful Lumens’.
