The Great Planes Revolver 60 ARF landing gear is not so great! The landing gear is poorly designed and is weak, breaks easily. I’m not the only person noting this. Many discussions and reviews on RC forums agree, the landing gear design is poor and a serious flaw of this otherwise beautiful sport plane. In this video series I figure out best way for me to fix mine after it failed. Maybe you will find this interesting or possibly helpful if repairing similar issues on your RC plane. This plane is powered by an awesome Saito FA-91 glow engine. In this video I finish the repair to the landing gear and show how to apply Monokote to the repair area. I make a patch of Monokote and cover the area. Then I bolt on the aluminum plates and new Dubro 60 size landing gear. All done. Update July 2021: I am happy to report that the landing gear repair is working great. However I do have to learn to keep the landings as smooth as possible. The replacement Dubro Landing gear is nice, but it is much more flexible and “springy” than the Junky Great Planes landing gear. So the plane will bounce if I’m not super careful on the landings. The problem with bouncing landing gear is that once the plane bounces it will have a tendency to drop fast as it comes out of the bounce which means it will hit the ground hard. So still touchy, but much better than the stock landing gear set up by Great Planes which is a major design flaw with this ARF. Thanks I have been building, flying, crashing, modifying, and repairing radio control planes for many years and enjoy sharing what I do with the radio control plane community. I fly with Futaba radio equipment, OS Max engines and Saito engines and typically run Morgan Omega and Powermaster glow fuels. I fly ARF rc planes, but I also really like to build rc plane kits.
