A re-upload following interminable ad revenue problems, which only as of Nov 4, 2013 has finally been resolved. PRINTS NOW AVAILABLE! http://www.cafepress.com/maludwigworks ***Project requested by users Grammytamster, ItsAngelAnthonyBetch, TheEleanorofaquitain, ArsinoeofEgypt, Faeryquene, Boleynanne, & Acosihans *This was one of the most difficult restorations I've attempted, partly for the fact that Elizabeth's appearance was depicted more realistically in her youth than in her mid-to-later years, and also for the fact that while she was considered to be quite beautiful as a young woman, she was nonetheless described as "handsome" more than beautiful, which is a difficult line to tread. Her features are a combined interpretation of her portrait as a 13-year-old, her father's features, and her mother's features restored in a previous project. *The queen's beauty became more of a metaphor than a fact, a phenomenon that shows itself in portraits of the queen in her sixties that look as though she is in her 20's. Her subjects made a point of flattering her for her beauty, regardless of her actual appearance. To some extent she bought into her own hype and accentuated her features with increasing amounts of cosmetics. *Elizabeth in history is described as having her mother's large, dark (short-sighted) eyes and long "oblong" face, high, prominent cheek bones, a hooked nose, her father's yellow-red hair and pale skin, and thin "rosebud" lips.
