In this reaction, I dive into “Getaway” by Ocean Colour Scene, and it completely caught me off guard—in the best way. I went in expecting something closer to the Britpop or indie dance sound that came out of the UK in the ’90s. Instead, what I got was a song that feels deeply rooted in classic ’70s rock ’n’ roll—warm grooves, strong songwriting, and a timeless feel that honestly sounds like it could work just as well today as it did back then. “Getaway” comes from Ocean Colour Scene’s 1996 album Moseley Shoals, a record that helped define the Britpop era in the UK. While the band had major success overseas—especially alongside groups like Oasis and Blur—they never quite broke through in the United States the way their music arguably deserved. Huge thanks to Nick Little for the Patreon request that led me to this one—this was a great listen. Let me know in the comments: 👉 Do you think “Getaway” could be a hit if it came out now?
