The Cincinnati Fire Department responded around 0630 hours to a report called in by Cincinnati Police for smoke coming from a single-family dwelling in Price Hill. Arriving companies found fire and smoke conditions on both the first and second floors. Initiating an aggressive interior attack, firefighters pulled a 74 year-old man from the burning residence. Treated on scene by paramedics and transported in critical condition to the hospital, unfortunately the man later passed away. Interior conditions subsequently deteriorated and the stairwells became unsafe so the fire was fought defensively for a brief period of time. To get to the fire on the second floor a hose line had to be stretched through a second floor window. The fire was knocked down within 40 minutes, but crews remained on scene for some time afterwards taking care of hot spots, overhaul and conducting an investigation.
