Join us for a scenic drive through California's Los Padres National Forest on the twisting curvy Nacimiento-Fergusson Road. (Central Coast of California) I know this video is a long one, it was hard to cut out any of the footage and we wanted a good remembrance of the drive there. Located about 5 miles south of Lucia on the central coast of California, the Nacimiento-Fergusson Road is renowned for being one of the most scenic drives in California, offering stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and the rugged Big Sur coastline. This winding road stretches approximately 24 miles, connecting the Pacific Coast Highway (Highway 1) to the inland areas of Fort Hunter Liggett. The road is known for its steep grades and sharp turns, making it a favorite among adventurous drivers and motorcyclists. We traveled this road from the east starting at Jolon California and driving through Fort Liggett. The lack of people and traffic made the drive relaxing and enjoyable. The burn scars from the Dolan fire are everywhere. The fire started August 18, 2020 and burned about 125K acres. ((**After some additional reading I found that some of the burned area within the Fort Liggett compound were from The Air Force use of the range for live fire bombing runs. There are large stretches of land blackened from grass fires.)) The road recently reopened after extensive repairs to the road were completed. The road was mostly single lane when you started to climb up the hillside. The road has no guardrails making each blind corner a new adventure. A marine layer covered the view of the ocean as we started the descent towards the coast but I bet on a clear day that view would be amazing.
