He was also a renowned astronomer, philosopher and physician. Ramban = aka Nachmanides is Rabbi Moses ben Nachman, born 1194, died 1270. He was born, raised and lived primarily in Catalonia, but migrated to Jerusalem, where he died. He was a leading medieval Jewish scholar. Rabbi, philosopher, physician, kabbalist and biblical commentator. He is also considered to be an important figure in the re-establishment of the Jewish community in Jerusalem following its destruction by the Crusaders in 1099.
