Day 1 of 365, Bible in a Year 2026: "In the beginning ... " begins the book of Genesis, and so begins our journey into reading the Bible through in one year. Theme: Creation - Origins of Space, Time and Matter. The creation of Man and Woman. January 3, 2026, chronological, cross-reference with a study from the Hebrew Roots. We are following, independently, Bible Study Together | Chronological Cross-Reference Bible Study. I started this channel for those who want to read the Bible, but say: "I just don't understand it." Today's reading is: Genesis 1 - 2:4 (that is Genesis chapter 1 through the first four verses of chapter 2), and Proverbs 8 (that is Proverbs chapter 8) - following day's readings below. We will also be reading from the Rabbinical commentary in the Artscroll Torah. Torah commentary involves interpreting the first five books of the Hebrew Bible (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy) through various lenses--classical, modern, academic, mystical, ethical, or feminist--to reveal deeper meanings, historical context, and relevance to or lives. Names of "Jewish Sages" that I read quotes from are: “Jewish Sages” Rambam = aka Maimonides is Rabbi Moses ben Maimon, born 1135 in Cordoba, Spain, died 1204 in old Cairo. He was a Sephardic Jewish Rabbi, widely acknowledged to be one of the most prolific and influential Torah scholars. His family was exiled from Muslim conquered and ruled Spain when they refused to convert from Islam. He resided in Jerusalem, Alexandria and finally Cairo, Egypt. He was also a renowned astronomer, philosopher and physician. Ramban = aka Nachmanides is Rabbi Moses ben Nachman, born 1194, died 1270. He was born, raised and lived primarily in Catalonia, but migrated to Jerusalem, where he died. He was a leading medieval Jewish scholar. Rabbi, philosopher, physician, kabbalist and biblical commentator. He is also considered to be an important figure in the re-establishment of the Jewish community in Jerusalem following its destruction by the Crusaders in 1099.
