Day 2 of 365, Bible in a Year 2026: Two become one flesh. January 4, 2026 - Today's readings: Proverbs 20:1-30 1 John 1 - 2:6 Genesis 2:5-25 Proverbs 4:14-27 1 John 2:7-29 The theme is that faith impacts material needs. We were created body and soul. While our bodies are under more pressure from the curse upon the earth, short of Paradise, we must pray to our Creator for sustenance. All Bible in a Year uploads can be found here: • Bible in a Year 2026 We will also be reading from the Rabbinical commentary in the Artscroll Torah. Torah commentary involves interpreting the first five books of the Hebrew Bible (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy) through various lenses--classical, modern, academic, mystical, ethical, or feminist--to reveal deeper meanings, historical context, and relevance to or lives. The following Sages were quoted from the rabbinic commentary to the Torah, Artscroll Edition: Rashi = Shlomo Yitzchaki 22 February 1040 – 13 July 1105), was a French rabbi and commentator who authored comprehensive commentaries on the Talmud and Hebrew Bible. Rashi is generally considered a leading biblical exegete in the Middle Ages. Acclaimed for his ability to present the basic meaning of the text in a concise and lucid fashion, Rashi's commentaries appeal to both learned scholars and beginning students, and his works remain a centerpiece of contemporary Torah study. R. Hirsch = Samson Rafael Hirsch (1808-1888) was a German Orthodox Rabbi best known as the intellectual founder Torah im Derech Eretz school of contemporary Orthodox Judaism. He was an opponent of Reformed Judaism, Zionism, and even Conservative Judaism. Hirsch had a great love for the land of Israel, but was opposed to the proto-Zionist activites. He believed Zionism was entirely dependent on Divine Providence. The Torah from which I'm reading the Sages' commentaries: https://www.amazon.com/Chumash-ArtScr...
