Welcome back! I can't believe we are already on season 6! We started the season with Dre solo hiking the Pinhoti Trail in Alabama and Georgia as Wiley finished up some work in NY. The Pinhoti Trail is a hidden gem spanning 350 miles across the rugged Appalachian Mountains of Alabama and Georgia. Named 'Turkey Home' in the Creek Indian language, this trail offers a rare sense of peace that you won’t find on the crowded AT. Come along as I navigate this incredible southern thru-hike! In today's episode, Dre started the Pinhoti Trail at the Southern Terminus and hikes 12.1 to a primitive campsite. The terrain was pretty mild with no big ups or downs. There was a couple miles of road walking and she was greeted by my sweet natured dogs and a cat. Hiking the trail in December tends to have a range of temperatures of 40F-60F during the day and 20F-40F at night.
