0:00 launch 03:15 stow landing legs 04:40 explore 15:30 climb 21:53 engine off 36:40 landing approach 37:20 landing 37:42 aborted first launch Temp 60, wind 3-6, 8 aloft Its 10 degrees cooler than the last flight a few days ago, and not as windy. We had a bit of rain since then, and plenty of mushy spots around the airfield. You could see standing water everywhere in the air with the sun shining on it. It was another difficult launch with the wind exactly perpendicular to the runway, I tried both ways and got it the second time. Flying at hazel green will force you to deal with difficult launch conditions. Usually I wouldnt launch with a cross of more than 45 degrees in open fields but managed to do this 90 cross with a steady 5 wind. I think summer conditions when the wind is constantly in flux and change directions along with a tree line is the hardest. I got some plastic wheels 3d printed that are 8" in diameter to replace the big training wheels. I wanted something similar to those whoosh wheels they used to sell, all the other wheels are too small or big. This landing it dropped pretty hard and cracked one at the hub, instead of being solid plastic they honeycomb thick sections and isn't as strong. Will try to get another one made that has thicker infill. Also have some small printed wheels on the way to bolt to the mosquito landing feet that drag and wear on the ground. Also tested a bluetooth interface using the raspberry pi to the headset and the GA radio but wasn't working for whatever reason, It was able to receive broadcasts at the house but wasn't working either direction when testing with another pilots radio at the airfield. Such janky technology. #flphg #hanggliding
