Self-compassion takes many forms — sometimes it’s soft and soothing, and other times it’s strong and protective. 💗🐻 Tender self-compassion is the form that expresses, “This hurts. I care. I’m here for you.” It accepts our imperfections and holds us with kindness, like a loving parent comforting a crying child. Fierce self-compassion is the form that expresses, “This is harmful. Something needs to change.” It helps us speak up, set boundaries, and take action — not because we’re unacceptable as we are, but because we’re worthy of protection. We need both. Too much tenderness without fierceness can lead to complacency. Too much fierceness without tenderness can lead to harshness or burnout.
