Itinerary: Portada Rajucolta to Laguna Rajucolta through the Quebrada Rajucolta trail (Camino a Yahuaraju). Approx. 10 mi out and back, 873 ft elevation gain. Max elevation: 4,271 m, 14,012 ft. Hike / Trek Notes: This was an easy and relaxing hike we took in between more challenging days of hiking/backpacking. It would be a perfect "altitude acclimatization" hike on a dirt road/trail with very gradual elevation and no significant gain. Indeed it can be considered a nice easy stroll in a bucolic valley (Quebrada) among the many cows than a hike. The drive was almost "more difficult" than the hike :) The Laguna itself is beautiful regardless of the fact that it is a man made lake. It features a truly impressive hanging glaciar and the entire hike offers constant spectacular views of the Huantsan Nevado, among the highest in the Cordillera Blanca. Certainly a beautiful day in the Cordillera Blanca.
