The beginning of my Genji: Days of the Blade full playthrough. This is a sequel to Genji: Dawn of the Samurai, which I also have a full playthrough for on my channel in the Genji playlist. Unlike Genji 1, these recordings will be 30 minutes long instead of an hour. Why? Because 30 minutes of recording an HD game takes up more GB than an hour of an SD recording of a game. 8:15 - Yoshitsune - Yoshitsune has a few differences to his moveset, but he still mostly plays like how he did in Genji 1. His square attacks change depending on the direction you aim them and he's fast and able to change direction easily. Triangle has him do a strong leaping attack, but that's all triangle does. In Genji 1 he could do a 360 attack by pressing a neutral triangle. Now that action has moved to the circle button. The circle button with a direction will cause Yoshitune to leap overhead or dodge in that direction while doing an attack now. He can also use it to run up and along walls. He has ariel attacks for all the button presses as well. Holding R1 allows him to block, and holding R2 has him take a special stance that changes his triangle button attacks to an uppercut and then a leaping follow up. He can double jump off walls and enemies. He can also dodge by moving the right analog in the direction you want to dodge. Camera - This is something worth bringing up, because it's pretty bad. I laugh at the people who complain about the camera in Ninja Gaiden or Metal Gear Rising. This game practically has no camera. Remember how I said you dodge with the right analog stick? Well there you go, you have that instead of a camera. You have literally absolutely no control over the camera otherwise, and it's not every good. It's not very noticable just yet, but the camera can get damned annoying later. 9:17 - Real Time Weapon Switch - I'm sure you're familiar with this just as you are the Giant Enemy Crab that we'll get to in Part 5. Yes, by pressing R2 you can switch to a selected secondary weapon at any time. Different weapons have different attack power as well as different moves. This new weapon for examble has slower attacks and less combos, but is more powerful. Even has a dashing charge up attack. However after a while we're gonna stop using this. As well as any other secondary weapons. I'll explain why when we get to it. 12:30 - Kamui - Yes, Kamui makes a return. Except it's barely anything like it was in Genji 1. In Genji 1, Kamui had the enemies attack you while you pressed a single button timed well enough and countered for massive damage. Now it's just a QTE mash. The QTEs you press vary on the enemy type. If you press the wrong button, they block and you move on to the next enemy. You can end the current QTE mash on an enemy at any point by pressing Circle before the prompt appears on screen, but that won't be useful until later. The Kamui will target about 10 enemies in the given area and lasts until you've done a QTE mash against all of them, or pressed nothing and one of them hit you. The time you can mash QTEs on an enemy during Kamui depends on how big your Kamui is, which you can see just below the health bar in the top left. 11:40 - Essence of Amahagane - Another thing returning from Genji 1 is the Essence of Amahagane. This functions pretty much the same, only you need 4 Essence to upgrade Health or Kamui. Health and Kamui are the only stats you can upgrade as oppose to Genji 1's Attack, Defense, and HP. Also, the controller no longer vibrates when near an Essence like in Genji 1. Instead, the glow on the character's body is much more noticable now. 22:00 - Benkei - And now we get to play as our boy, Benkei! He...sucks. At least compared to Genji 1. In Genji 1 he knew how to swing his weapon more than once. Now Benkei is severly limited to performing a single attack and then stopping, with the only exception being for his neutral triangle charge that has him spin like crazy but actually isn't very damaging despite its looks. He deals the most damage, sure, but he takes so long to attack it just doesn't compare to Yoshitsune. Anyways...Benkei can charge up all of his attacks except his circle attack, which just does a weak kick. Benkei has the ability to destroy bigger obsticals taht other characters can't, and his kick can move certain objects. He's slow, but deals the most damage with his attacks. 26:10 - Switching Characters - When characters are together, you can switch them at any time using the D-pad. After a character is switched, you have to wait about 2 seconds before you can switch to the same character again. Also, when a character dies it's game over, even if the other characters have full HP. If one of you hits 0, it's game over. (I had a few more things to say but the description was too long lol)
