Please like and subscribe to help support this channel! The John Muir Trail | Day 14: Crabtree Meadow - Mt. Whitney (then Lone Pine) I was on trail hiking at 3:45 am. The moon was so bright I barely needed a headlamp. I took my time and admired the early morning sights. It’s so incredibly peaceful and beautiful at this time. By the time I arrived at Guitar Lake I was seeing ice on trail. As I ascended the wind picked up and it got COLD. By the time I got to the side trail to the Mt. Whitney summit, the wind was intense. I covered all exposed skin outside of my eyes, and had to use my extra socks as gloves. 🤪 From there I didn’t take many pictures until the summit. The wind was too strong. I was focused on making my goal - the summit. Eventually I made it up and went straight to the hut that’s up there to take a quick break from the wind. There were others in there nestled in their sleeping bags trying to get warm. After a few minutes I quickly ran up to the top, but there wouldn’t be any summit pictures holding the sign or anything like that. It was a quick run up to make the summit, a selfy, and then run down sort of thing. The wind didn’t let up much the entire way down, but the elevation and sun started working in my favor, and I warmed up. Before I knew it, after over 6,000’ of decent, I was down at Whitney Portal. Just like that, this hike was over. #johnmuirtrail #mtwhitney
