Basie Jam: Montreux '77 is a 1977 live album by Count Basie, recorded at the 1977 Montreux Jazz Festival, " SHE'S FUNNY THAT WAY" was performed by: Count Basie - piano Benny Carter - alto saxophone Zoot Sims - tenor saxophone Vic Dickenson - trombone Roy Eldridge - trumpet Ray Brown - double bass Jimmie Smith - drums Al Grey - Trombone William James "Count" Basie (/ˈbeɪsi/; August 21, 1904 – April 26, 1984)[ was an American jazz pianist, organist, bandleader, and composer. In 1935, he formed the Count Basie Orchestra, and in 1936 took them to Chicago for a long engagement and their first recording. He led the group for almost 50 years, creating innovations like the use of two "split" tenor saxophones, emphasizing the rhythm section, riffing with a big band, using arrangers to broaden their sound, and others. Many musicians came to prominence under his direction, including the tenor saxophonists Lester Young and Herschel Evans, the guitarist Freddie Green, trumpeters Buck Clayton and Harry "Sweets" Edison, plunger trombonist Al Grey, and singers Jimmy Rushing, Helen Humes, Thelma Carpenter, and Joe Williams. I do not own the copyright to the music, the recording and the photos. This video is posted for educational use under Section 17 U.S. Code § 107. Limitations on exclusive rights: Fair use. All posts are rendered in old school using restored vinyl LPs. This channel does not use recordings from CDs. As much as possible, I attempted to remove most of the pops and crackles from the original vinyl album. Some remastering was applied to make the performance cut through within the confines of the loudness wars. Hope you enjoy. #jazzfest #jazzpiano #jazzjam #montreuxjazzfestival #vinylrecord
