The Camiño dos Faros, also known as the Lighthouse Route, in the far northwest of Galicia is a beautiful 200 km journey along the Costa da Morte. You walk as much as possible along the rugged coastline, often on narrow paths, alternating with wide sandy beaches and the characteristic Rías. Where for many seafarers this rugged coast used to mean the end, there is now a lot of beauty to be seen for the experienced hiker. The route is divided into 8 stages of around 25 km, depending on the difficulty of the route and the available places to stay overnight. You can walk the entire route or parts of it with matching hospitable hotels, lunch packs and baggage transport. STAGE 2. NIÑÓNS - PONTECESO | 27.1 km | April 2, 2022 The second and somewhat more difficult stage takes you from Niñóns to Ponteceso through a wide variety of landscapes. The first part goes along the rugged coast, sometimes high above, sometimes close to the waves. The path along the coves and small beaches of A Barda takes you to the cliffs of Cabo Roncudo with the lighthouse of the same name. At this point there are also rocks where the Percebeiros (gooseneck barnacle fishermen) risk their lives when detaching the valuable shellfish, while the wild ocean beats against them. You will regularly encounter these fishermen on the entire route in places where the sea is roughest. The path continues into the Ría de Corme y Laxe, where the sea becomes calmer. Je loopt zoveel mogelijk langs de grillige kustlijn over veelal smalle paadjes afgewisseld met de brede zandstranden en de kenmerkende Rías. Waar voor veel zeevaarders deze ruige kust vroeger het einde betekende is er voor de geoefende wandelaar nu heel veel moois te zien. De route is verdeeld in 8 etappes van rond de 25 km, afhankelijk van de zwaarte van de route en de beschikbare plaatsen om te overnachten. De route kan je als geheel of in delen ervan lopen met bijpassende gastvrije hotels, lunchpakketten en bagagevervoer. ETAPPE 2. NIÑÓNS - PONTECESO | 27,1 km | 2 april 2022 De tweede en wat zwaardere etappe neemt je vanaf Niñóns tot aan Ponteceso mee langs een grote verscheidenheid aan landschappen. Het eerste deel gaat langs de ruige kust, soms loop je hoog over, soms vlak bij de golven. Het pad langs de inhammen en de kleine strandjes van A Barda brengen je naar de kliffen van Cabo Roncudo met de gelijknamige vuurtoren. Op dit punt zijn ook rotsen waar de Percebeiros (eendenmosselvissers) hun leven riskeren bij het lossteken van de kostbare schaaldieren, terwijl de woeste oceaan op ze inbeukt. Je komt de vissers op de gehele route regelmatig tegen op plaatsen waar de zee het ruwst is. Het pad gaat verder de Ría de Corme y Laxe in, waar de zee rustiger wordt.
