This month the camera view was… let’s just say extra textured. Between rough water, surge, and nonstop activity, visibility was low and the dome built up a solid coat of ocean grime. But once the waters finally calmed, we were able to get down there for a much-needed cleaning — and what a difference it made. Even through the haze, we watched something new unfold: hundreds of crabs covering the ocean floor. Spinner has never documented a crab turnout like this before, and they seemed to be everywhere we looked. Early in the month, the hammerhead shark paid a visit — brief, but unmistakable. Two scorpionfish were spotted chasing each other around the piling. The balloonfish returned, cruising by like he never left. We also saw a lane snapper, moon jellies, comb jellies, and fireworms making their rounds. A needlefish and even an Atlantic sharpnose shark made appearances — both uncommon sightings for us. And, of course, Puffy showed up fully inflated and proud of it — spikes on display for all to see. A murky start, an ocean floor full of crabs, a mix of regulars and rare guests, and a fresh clean lens to end the month — November definitely kept things interesting underwater.
