http://www.TheCurrencyMan.com On this Episode, TheCurrencyMan is going to show you his 1882 $5 "Brown Back" National Currency Bank Note from the National Bank of Salisbury, North Carolina. This series of National Currency received a lot of attention back in the day not just because they were printed by major metropolitan banks and tiny one bank towns, but more for the fact that they had brown ink on the back of these notes. Another fact that made these particular brown back notes desirable was because they were also printed with multiple layout designs. The gentleman in the portrait on this bank note is President James Garfield. President Garfield served only 200 days in office and died as a result of being shot by an assassin in 1881.
