Photographing Hares at Eye-Level | A Morning at Teddesley Park Estate In this immersive wildlife photography film, I spend a peaceful morning on the beautiful Teddesley Park Estate, nestled in the heart of Staffordshire, photographing one of the UK’s most iconic and elusive species – the brown hare. From inside a low-level pop-up hide, set at ground height to mirror the hares’ perspective, I capture these magnificent animals as they move through the summer landscape. With careful fieldcraft, patience, and respect for their space, I was able to document a series of intimate and natural moments – from cautious foraging to bursts of athletic speed across the dew-soaked fields. This film isn’t just about photography – it’s about connection. Getting low, staying still, and allowing the natural world to unfold around you brings a sense of calm and mindfulness that I always hope to share with my viewers. As always, I’m using my trusted kit: Sony A1 – capturing every detail with its incredible speed and resolution Sony 400mm f/2.8 GM – for beautifully soft backgrounds and pin-sharp focus Sony 70-200mm GM – perfect for wider context shots of the hares in their environment DJI Pocket Osmo 3 – for behind-the-scenes vlogging DJI Mavic Mini Pro 4 – to capture sweeping aerials of the estate (used respectfully and without disturbing wildlife) A special mention in this film goes to Chloe Dalton, a passionate conservationist working to raise awareness of the pressures facing hares in the UK. Chloe runs community education sessions, promotes wildlife-friendly farming practices, and is actively campaigning for greater protection for hares during the breeding season. Her work is vital in highlighting the impact of habitat loss, illegal hunting, and lack of legal protection during peak breeding times.
