ACI Spring 2022 Concrete Solutions Competition Team Name: >BUET University: Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET) Recycling PPE to Introduce Polypropylene FRC Here we are presenting the recycling process of Personal Protective Equipment(PPE) into Polypropylene-based Fiber Reinforced Concrete(FRC) with the goal of reducing plastic waste. We did not choose Covid-19 but we certainly can’t bypass it. While we are so focused on the death toll caused by the worldwide pandemic, the gigantic amount of plastic waste that is being generated as a side effect of it is going rather unnoticed. But its environmental effects are very grave, especially its impact on marine lives. Also, the sturdy nature of PPE waste is notorious for its water-clogging attribute. If so goes on, in no time, these wastes will turn out to be the Trojan Horse and the consequences will be too massive to handle. So, we came up with a way to reduce these wastes by incorporating them into FRC which will not only solve these problems but will also improve the compressive strength, durability, and other desirable properties of concrete. Certain SDG goals will be easier to achieve by advocating a sustainable and eco-friendly approach to reducing energy use and waste management.
