Looking to improve your hockey skating edges but don't have access to any equipment or ice? In this video, we'll show you 4 exercises that you can do right from the comfort of your own home, without any equipment needed! These exercises are perfect for hockey players who want to take their skating skills to the next level. First up, we have single-leg airplanes, this exercise helps improve your balance, stability, and glute strength. By improving these 3 things, you'll have better control when you're on one skate. Then, we'll move on to the single-leg lateral line hops, which work on your side-to-side movement, control, and agility. The faster we can perform this exercise with great control, the better you'll be able to transition your side-to-side movements on the ice. The single-leg hop and stick exercise focuses on a little bit of your explosive power but more importantly your coordination. The better control and coordination you have the better you can change your direction on the ice. The last drill(s) puts everything together and allows you to work on changing your direction quicker. Start slowly to learn the technique and then as you feel more comfortable, increase the speed while performing the cutting drills as this will help with your quick turns and transitions on the ice. The best part of all of these exercises is that they can be done at home and in a small space, so you don't need a lot of room to perform them. They're also great for players of all levels, from beginners to pros. So, whether you're looking to sharpen your skills during the off-season or just want to improve your game, give these exercises a try and see the difference they can make with your edges on the ice!
