Welcome to the first-ever conference on Ismaili Studies. This panel, chaired by Orkhan Mir-Kasimov of the Institute of Ismaili Studies, reinterprets historical analyses from early and modern Ismaili history, including a focus on the Fatimid Period. Tahera Qutbuddin introduces 10 principles that structure Fatimid interpretations of the Qur’an. Hermann Landolt (with the help of Daryoush Mohammad Poor) explores interpretations of Truth as described by ‘Alī b. Abī Ṭālīb and its relevance to Shi’i and Sufi Islam. Devin Stewart demystifies al-Karājikī, an important but misunderstood Twelver scholar from the Fatimid Empire. Sultonbek Aksakolov uses uncovered Soviet documents to explore the structure and logistics of Muslim congregations in Central Asia.
