TU Dublin's Jim Roche gives a talk titled "Israel’s architecture of occupation: destruction and construction of occupied territories”. Jim is both an architect and teacher in the Dublin School of Architecture in TUD. He has always had a particular interest in the Occupation of Palestine; He is the Co-founder of a solidarity group called Academics for Palestine and has been involved in numerous campaigns on the subject. Recently he has been looking at how the Israeli state uses Architecture and Urban Planning in its systematic programs of destruction and construction to colonies the Palestinian territory. Its recommended that before watching you have a look at this video ( • Rebel Architecture - The architecture of v... ) "Rebel Architecture - The architecture of violence" which will provide relevant background. An addendum to Jim's closing statement - the Occupied Territories Bill is still going through the Dáil, if you wish to act in solidarity with Palestine, Email your local TD and Urge them to support the bill. CURRENT Socials Instagram: / current_ire. . Twitter: / current_ireland Current is a project originating in UCD and involving architecture schools across Ireland. This regular ‘zoomcast’ will present features on what the faculty, staff and students are up to – in projects, in practice and in research – and on what is current. We will ask invited guests to share their enthusiasms – favorite books, pictures, places visited – and will explore themes and issues relevant to contemporary architecture. As long as we cannot all be in the same place at the same time, Current is intended to provide ‘a shared stream of thought’ through which the culture of architectural education can be sustained. Between us, the schools will produce a number of programs each week, typically running from 1-2pm. All are welcome to join, ask questions, and become part of the conversation.
