Via Alpina, Green Trail, National Route 1: Vaduz (Gaflei, FL) to Montreux ↔ 390 km | ↗ 23600 m | ↘ 24800 m | Time: 140h The Via Alpina Green Trail is one of the most beautiful and diverse long-distance hiking routes through the Swiss Alps. It begins in the picturesque town of Vaduz, the capital of the Principality of Liechtenstein, and leads over 20 stages to the famous Montreux on Lake Geneva. Starting in Vaduz, Gaflei (FL) Your hike begins in Gaflei, above Vaduz in Liechtenstein. From here, you'll trek 390 kilometers through some of the most impressive landscapes in Switzerland. The first stage takes you from Gaflei to Sargans, where you'll gain your first elevation on scenic trails. From Lowlands to High Mountains Initially, you'll traverse the gentle hills of the St. Gallen Rhine Valley before the route becomes more alpine in the Glarus region. Here, you’ll ascend into higher realms, soon finding yourself amidst the captivating world of the Swiss Alps. Alpine Highlights The Bernese Alps are the crown jewels of this route. During the hike, you will be led through magnificent mountain landscapes, cross over 14 passes, and repeatedly encounter breathtaking views. The route offers numerous highlights, including the famous Grindelwald, the stunning views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau from Kleine Scheidegg, and the Oeschinensee – one of the most beautiful mountain lakes in Switzerland. Pass Crossings and Natural Wonders Along the way, you’ll cross some of the most famous passes in the Alps, including the Surenen Pass with its view of the mystical Martinsloch and the Tschingelhörner, where twice a year, the sun shines directly through the hole onto the church tower in Elm. The route takes you through six cantons, with a total of 23,600 meters of ascent and 24,800 meters of descent. The Path to Montreux The final stages lead you through the picturesque landscapes of the Vaud Pre-Alps, past green meadows, clear mountain lakes, and historic villages. The climax of the journey is the ascent to Rochers de Naye, before finally arriving in Montreux, where you celebrate the end of this epic hike with an overwhelming view of Lake Geneva. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ content: 00:00 Intro 00:38 Start Via Alpina Switzerland: Vaduz Gaflei, Fl To Sargans - Stage 1, 28km ↔ 480hm ↗ 1600hm ↘ 2:01 Sargans to Weisstannen - Stage 2, 13km ↔ 820hm ↗ 300hm ↘ 3:02 Weisstannen to Elm - Stage 3, 22km ↔ 1400hm ↗ 1450hm ↘ 4:46 Elm to Linthal - Stage 4, 25km ↔ 1650hm ↗ 2000hm ↘ 6:36 Linthal to Urnerboden - Stage 5, 16km ↔ 1100hm ↗ 400hm ↘ 7:43 Urnerboden to Altdorf - Stage 6, 27km ↔ 1150hm ↗ 1900hm ↘ 9:30 Altdorf to Engelberg - Stage 7, 29km ↔ 2100hm ↗ 1500hm ↘ 11:14 Engelberg to Engstlenalp - Stage 8, 12km ↔ 1300hm ↗ 440hm ↘ 12:38 Engstlenalp to Meiringen - Stage 9, 22km ↔ 750hm ↗ 2000hm ↘ 13:52 Meiringen to Grindelwald - Stage 10, 23km ↔ 1500hm ↗1100hm ↘ 15:26 Grindelwald to Lauterbrunnen - Stage 11, 20km ↔ 1150hm ↗ 1400hm ↘ 16:58 Lauterbrunnen to Griesalp - Stage 12, 22km ↔ 2000hm ↗ 1400hm ↘ 18:39 Griesalp to Kandersteg - Stage 13, 17km ↔ 1450hm ↗ 1700hm ↘ 20:02 Kandersteg to Adelboden - Stage 14, 16km ↔ 1400hm ↗ 1250hm ↘ 21:00 Adelboden to Lenk - Stage 15, 14km ↔ 720hm ↗ 1000hm ↘ 21:51 Lenk to Gstaad - Stage 16, 22km ↔1150hm ↗ 1150hm ↘ 23:17 Gstaad to L`etivaz - Stage 17, 16km ↔1300hm ↗ 1200hm ↘ 24:46 L`etivaz to Rossinière - Stage 18, 14km ↔ 350hm ↗ 580hm ↘ 25:56 Rossinière to Rochers de naye - Stage 19, 19km ↔1900hm ↗ 820hm ↘ 27:51 Rochers de naye to Montreux - Stage 20, 13km ↔100hm ↗ 1650hm ↘ 30:08 the end ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ► Hello, my name is Pascal.
