What is a RFE? A Request for Evidence from USCIS

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) issues written notices in the form of an RFE to request missing initial or additional evidence in relation to an immigration application or petition. RFE stands for Request for Evidence. A request for evidence is a request for more documentation. It means that the USCIS officer reviewing the application needs more information before he or she can make a decision. The best way to avoid RFEs is to do a thorough job on the paperwork.
