The hottest selling beanie on Etsy is so easy to make! Get started with your Christmas or gift sewing, or make some extra $$$ making these at local craft fairs or for sewing business. A sewing business, hat business winner! Use a good quality polar fleece fabric and a sewing machine. You need scissors and thread as well. That's it! This is a beginner hat project that will also give you a quick effective lession in simple design. Turning a flat piece of fleece into a three dimensional hat that you will be proud to sell and wear! The hat is made from a simple wide rectangle of fabric. Custom size the hat by taking one measurement or use mine for a cosy comfy one size fits most. Measure your head circumference and add 1 inch or 2.5 cm to that measurement to get the width of the hat which is cut with the stretch of the fleece. The other measurement is the depth of the hat which includes a cuff so you can customize the depth as well. I another 2 inches or another 5 cms to the width measurement so the fabric is slightly longer than it is wider. So length works out to be your head circumference measurement (for me I am average at 22.5 inches or 57.5 cm) plus 2 inches or plus 5 cm. If you want the hat to sit close to your head than turn up a wider cuff at the bottom. A longer baggier fit, turn up a smaller cuff or no cuff at all. Without a cuff the hat is a double layer of fleece right up to the top. With the cuff, you have an extra double layer for warmth around your forehead and ears. My measurements in the video The width going around my head - 23.5 inches or 60 cm The length of the hat (back seam) - 25.5 inches or 65 cm To create your custom size, sizes for kids etc, measure head circumference, add an inch or 2.5 cm to the width and add 2 inches or 5 cm to the length (Length is cut with the grain edge or in the direction that does not stretch as well).
