Shot in 1949, just a few years after the end of World War II, the film features footage of iconic sites across Paris, such as the Grand Palais, Panthéon, and Eiffel Tower, in addition to the Western suburb of Versailles, home to the former royal residence of Queen Marie Antoinette and the “Sun King,” King Louis XIV. The film culminates in New York City Harbor at Cunard White Star Line’s dock at Pier 90 after a journey across the Atlantic on the RMS Queen Elizabeth.
