Learn the Weather In Arabic - Lesson 9 الطقس

Weather is a subject people all over the world speak about, so knowing words related to weather conditions in Arabic, help you socialize with others. Let’s start with the word weather. Weather in Arabic is Ta’is. طقس Some say Taqis with the letter قاف, (which is the classical Arabic) others like myself drop the “q” and say Ta’is, because its softer and easier. Taqis Ta’is When asking "How is the weather today?" Kif itta’is ilyom? كيف الطقس اليوم Kif is how (as we learned in lesson 6) كيف Ilyom is today اليوم How is the weather today? Kif itta’is ilyom? when the day is hot, we say: Ilyom Showb or Ilyom ḥam اليوم شوب او اليوم حم Or itta’is Showb itta’is ḥam الطقس شوب الطقس حم Showb or ḥam means hot weather شوب أو حم For a cold day we say Ilyom Bard or Ilyom sa’3a اليوم برد او اليوم سقعة or itta’is Bard itta’is sa’3a الطقس برد، الطقس سقعة Bard and sa’3a means cold weather برد وسقعة For a warm day we say itta’is dafi الطقس دافي when it’s cool, we say itta’is barad الطقس براد for a cloudy day itta’is ġa’em الطقس غائم when the weather is dry, we say itta’is nashefالطقس ناشف When its rainy we say Shita or matarشتا او مطر If you want to say that the weather is very cold or very hot you can add the word ktir (which means very after the hot or cold) for example: itta’is Bard ktir (it’s very cold) الطقس برد كتير itta’is Showb ktir or ḥam ktir الطقس شوب كتير أو حم كتير I will give you few words that are connected to the weather like: Temperature darajet ilḥarara درجة الحرارة Sun shames شمس Fog ḍabab ضباب Lightning bareq or as I said before I drop the q it becomes bare’ برق Thunder ra3ed رعد Storm 3aṣfeh عاصفة Flood fayaḍan فيضان Snow talej ثلج Rainbow cos cozaḥ قوس قزح Hail barad برَد Make sure to like and subscribe to my channel, and ring the bell to be notified with my new videos.
