In this math video we will identify & determine congruent transformations. I will introduce a three part constructed response question. We are presented with a coordinate plane with two parallelograms. Part A asks us to determine what transformation was performed on the original figure to result the given image. We will understand that the figure has been translated since the size has not change and the figure has not been "flipped" or "turned". We will determine the distance right and down that the figure was translated to write our explanation. Part B will ask us to determine if the image is congruent to the original figure. We will explain that the figure and the image are congruent since they are the same shape and same size. Part C will ask us to reflect the image and determine if the second image is congruent to the original figure. We will understand that ANY translation or reflection MUST be congruent to the original figure. So, since the figure was translated and then reflected, the images are both congruent to the original figure. An exemplar solution is modeled and explained.
