Devising a Timber Hoist for use with a Chainsaw Mill

As a woodturner I am sometimes given some very large and heavy pieces of newly felled wood. As a first stage in producing turning blanks this wood is initially processed using my electrically powered chainsaw mill. Such green wood is VERY heavy and is sometimes too much for me to man-handle onto the elevated cutting platform of the mill. To solve this problem I decided that a simple hoisting system was needed. This video shows how the solution to the problem was sparked from a surprising and totally unexpected source and triggered a design idea followed by a practical implementation hoisting some green Ash trunks from my local park for subsequent milling.
