Man is a social animal and Behavior plays an important role in man’s social life. According to the Oxford dictionary, Behavior is defined as the way in which one acts or conducts oneself, especially towards others. Studies have proven that there exists a relationship between Behavior and Attitude. Behavior is based on the attitude to self and to others. Hence our Attitude can have a strong influence over Behavior, which shapes up our interactions with others. There are 4 different kinds of attitudes to self and to others. Attitude to self can either be “I am OK” or “I am NOT OK”. Similarly, Attitude toward others can either be “YOU are OK” or “YOU are NOT OK”. Now, let's take the combinations of the above: 1. “I am NOT OK, You are OK” - This type of attitude leads to what is called as ‘Passive Behavior’. 2. “I am OK, You are NOT OK” - This type of attitude leads to what is called as “Aggressive Behavior’. 3. “I am OK, You are OK” - This type of attitude leads to what is called as ‘Assertive Behavior’. This is a very productive and effective kind of Behavior which can build healthy relationships with others. In this self development video, Dr. Mary Matilda provides insights about Assertiveness, a behavioral skill which we can acquire by practice, and how to become an assertive person. #assertive #MaryMatilda #selfdevelopment #malayalammotivation #assertiveness #success Dr. Mary Matilda is the former Principal of Maharajas College Ernakulam.
