Ginger Cougar, Cougar Park - Grade 4, Advanced 3

700m, 12m climb, 70m descent. The soil on this trail is nice shade of ginger and there are plenty of tricks along the way to bite any unsuspecting riders. On a north facing slope, it catches the sun, holds the warmth and has great drainage. Our beautiful Ginger Cougar was originally in Dunedin of all places! Unfortunately her time with @mbotago came to an end, but given Cougar Park was already home to many a cat track (Speedy Cheetah, Mountain Lion, Black Pantha, Tiggers Tail) we put up our hand and said we'll give her a place with us! In June of 2020, Luke from @mbotago dutifully hand delivered the original Ginger Cougar sign to her new home here in Tokoroa. Two years on, Ginger Cougar has adjusted to the warmer weather of the north, though she misses her friends from the deep south. We do hope all Otago MTB riders call in to say hi to her when passing along SH1.
