I think I started dissociating when I was very little when I was being sexually abused as a child. In previous videos, I've told you guys that that abuse started when I was around 4 (lasted until I was 10), but recently, my therapist has been telling me she thinks I was even younger when it started. I guess we'll never really know, I'm not sure how something like that could be determined/figured out but it's just something to add here. Dissociation for me, was a way to escape. I couldn't physically over-power him, I couldn't get out of the situation I was in until I grew up. I hope this video helps you if you realize you dissociate - know it's ok. There's nothing wrong about that. I think it's amazing to be able to recognize when it's happening, or maybe it's starting to happen and you can catch yourself.
