In this video we will be replacing a brake master cylinder which has developed a DOT3 brake fluid leak into the power brake vacuum booster unit. We will also go over how to identify the different types of GM Moraine brake master cylinders used in the year range of this video both cosmetically, and by manufacturing option codes. The truck illustrated is a 1998 Chevrolet Cheyenne K2500, but the replacement procedure for the master cylinder part will be the same for any 1995 thru 2002 GMT400 series OBS truck with any of the power brake options (RPOs JB5, JD5, JB6, JD6, JB7, JD7, JD8, and JF9). Chevrolet, GMC, and Holden for Cheyenne, Silverado, Tahoe, Yukon, Suburban, Sierra, and W/T trucks across C1500, K1500, C2500, K2500, and as well as C3500 and K3500 ratings. Fitment for model year 2000 is limited to Cadillac Escalade, and Chevrolet Tahoe Limited/Z71. The 3500HD for models years 2001 and 2002 would also be applicable for this repair video. Each brake RPO though will require one of FOUR different master cylinder part numbers that I show you how to determine.
