Sören Sieg: Consolation. For piano solo. From the album Amazing Africa.

This is my very first video for piano solo! Consolation is from my cycle AMAZING AFRICA for piano solo. Originally it was the third movement of my African Suite No. 20 called IXESHA. Ixesha in Xhosa means time, and this refers to the African Proverb: "The Europeans have the clock, the Africans have the time." I tried to capture this different, floating, African feeling of time in this work. All movements are centered around one theme and there are many repetitions and variations, as if the time slowed down, went in circles or stood still. Consolation, ist about a mother holding her child, that has hurt itself, in her arm, lulling the child, telling it stories to distract it and keep whispering "Everything will be fine".
