In this video, I introduce the 6 Principles of Good Digital Living—a framework to help you build a healthier relationship with technology, reclaim focus, and boost creativity. 1️⃣ Good Digital Living is Intentional – Technology should serve your goals, not dictate your behaviour. I conducted a device audit to ensure every device in my life has a clear purpose—making my laptop the cornerstone of my digital setup rather than my smartphone. 2️⃣ Good Digital Living is Simple – Complexity drains mental energy. By consolidating my files into one system, I eliminated decision fatigue and freed myself from unnecessary digital clutter. Simplifying your tech stack helps you focus on what truly matters. 3️⃣ Good Digital Living is Mindful – With “brain rot” named Oxford’s Word of the Year, it’s never been more important to set boundaries with digital consumption. I assessed the social media platforms I engage with, and implemented an intentional reading habit. 4️⃣ Good Digital Living is Secure – Without security, our digital lives become vulnerabilities. I use a password manager, two-factor authentication, and tools like Apple’s Hide My Email and Firefox Relay to protect my personal information. 5️⃣ Good Digital Living is Flexible – Avoid ecosystem lock-in and digital dependency. Instead of being trapped in app-based model of thinking, I use a file-based system model of thinking to keep my work portable and future-proof. 6️⃣ Good Digital Living is Balanced – More tech doesn’t always mean better living. Learning to say “no” to unnecessary technology helps maintain balance and control.
