Fungi serve not only as a source of design inspiration but also as co-designers and living materials. In this episode of Moden, we explore mushroom-based textiles that actively shape garments, influencing their form, texture, and movement. Designers such as Aniela Hoitink and Martin Margiela collaborate directly with living processes, creating clothes that grow, respond, and transform over time. Other designers, including Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen and Iris van Herpen, draw inspiration from fungal forms, translating organic patterns into innovative fashion. This perspective demonstrates that fashion is more than aesthetic or symbolic: materials themselves can participate in the creative process. Fungi challenge the traditional division between designer and material, revealing how garments can be partially alive and dynamic. REFERENCES Bell, S. (2010).
