People with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) face persistent and often hidden barriers in the housing system—from application screening to tenancy and enforcement actions. In this session, staff from the Fair Housing Council of Oregon share what they learned through statewide community listening sessions about how discrimination against people with IDD shows up in real housing transactions. Presenters walk through common fair housing violations affecting people with IDD, explain how and when discrimination occurs, and outline practical advocacy strategies for housing providers, service partners, and advocates. The training covers how to support people with IDD during the application process, while they are tenants, and when responding to violation notices or lease enforcement. Attendees also receive education tools and resources designed specifically to support self-advocacy and informed decision-making for people with IDD. This session is especially relevant for property managers, resident services staff, housing advocates, and anyone working to ensure that fair housing protections are meaningfully accessible to people with disabilities. Presenters: Glenda Moyer, Education and Outreach Coordinator, Fair Housing Council of Oregon Savannah Meekins, Education and Outreach Coordinator, Fair Housing Council of Oregon Hosted by Housing Oregon as part of the 2025 Annual Conference.
