For the past 8 years, my husband and I have visited almost each summer for a couple of weeks, bringing the kids along (two boys, now grown-up), to enjoy simple countryside pleasures, from making bread in my granny’s kneading trough, reviving cosiness and restoring the house, to listening to the crickets at sunset. Each coming back has been a mix of nostalgia and discovery—a celebration of resilience, adventure, love, and hope. This time, I return alone. I’ll spend here a week, immersing myself in the atmosphere, where nature feels both enchanting and overwhelming. Fierce battles with tangled vines and creeping lianas will be followed by moments of serenity and quiet reflection.
