Meet the man behind "Me, Modeld & Mayhem!" GET YOUR TICKET HERE! - https://longfield.org.uk/our-event/me... Muppets, models, and mayhem are just some of the intriguing subjects covered by Freelance Designer/Model maker Steve Allen in his fascinating show, covering his 46-year career, hosted by Longfield Community Hospice this coming October. Some well-known models, puppets, and props from Film and TV will be with him, and the audience will have a chance to see them up close. Steve’s journey started as a painfully shy child who wanted to be something, but always felt he wasn’t good enough. Then at the age of 16, he became a soft toy designer, before being spotted by “The Jim Henson Company” while developing toy versions of characters from “Fraggle Rock”. What followed was a job at the famous “Jim Henson Creature Shop” in London, making prototype puppets for the film “Labyrinth, plus designing new characters and Muppet merchandise. By the time Steve turned 22, he had started his own freelance business, producing puppets, effects models, props and toys for companies across the globe, including BBC, Hornby, 20th Century Fox, Pinewood Studios, and even The Magic Circle. Though Steve has enjoyed much of his dream career, it hasn’t been without its challenges. Years of punishing deadlines and the resulting stress endured led to a breakdown, which eventually brought him to seek help at Longfield. Steve mentions this in his show and tells how he managed to survive the ordeal! ⚠️ Please note: this video includes discussion of mental ill health and suicide. There is a 14 years upwards age rating on tickets. Supporting the event will be Marling School, which has recently supported the hospice in memory of a Longfield patient, and is offering its venue free of charge.
