4L80E Rebuild - No Reverse / Stardust Automotive Inc.

Hello everyone. So if you’re watching this video, chances are you have a 4L80E transmission and lost reverse. Very common problem. Sometimes it’s an issue inside the valve body, sometimes it’s an issue with the reverse servo and other times it’s an issue of the band prematurely wearing out. However in this situation our customer lost reverse due to a sun gear shaft bearing failure which caused the main input shaft to burn up. So because of this there wasn’t enough fluid pressure to energize the reverse servo all the way and burned up the reverse band from excessive slippage. So we have ordered in a hardened main shaft and a billet sun gear shaft. We are sending all the bushings out to 300below for cryogenic treatment and then I will rebuild the transmission. Stay tuned for that. I will make an entire video of the complete rebuild process including the valve body shift kit upgrade by Superior. We changed up from the TransGo instead.
