News coverage of the June 21, 1989 3rd alarm fire at a partially vacant factory located at 133 Hamilton St, formerly the site of the New Haven Clock Company. Captured is the dramatic rescue of a severely burned male under extreme fire conditions. In a bizarre chain of events, also captured in the midst of the rescue, a partially fallen electrical cable from the side of the building gave out and struck the ladder portion of the tower ladder. This created a bouncing effect in the positioning of the master streams, and directed one stream at the other aerial ladder causing it to twist and collapse while firefighters were making their ascent. All three firefighters dropped to the ground, one separating his shoulder; however, all would eventually return to duty. Despite the rescue efforts, the victim expired two days later in the hospital. 12 fire companies received Unit Citations and the two members in the tower bucket received the Medal of Merit.
