One of ten selections from the pictured 16-inch 33 1/3 electrical transcription disc--aka “radio transcription” or “broadcast transcription”--containing music recordings created and licensed exclusively for radio station use (not issued for sale on commercial 78rpm discs). The King’s Men vocal quartet--active on radio, on records, and in movies during the 1930s & ‘40s--consisted of award-winning composer, vocal arranger, lyricist, and conductor Ken Darby, plus Rad Robinson, Jon Dodson, and Bud Linn. Between 1940 and 1953 they were featured vocalists on the “Fibber McGee and Molly” radio program where they were accompanied (as here) by the show’s musical director Billy Mills. Special thanks to Gregory May, San Diego, for providing us with this transcription disc - Standard Program Library X-141 by King’s Men with Billy Mills and his Orchestra.
